of GIS and other geographic techniques to the problems of urban
planning and suburban sprawl.

Working with a small, motivated team of geographers to provide
geographic education and outreach programs in elementary and
secondary schools, using an inflatable, portable classroom in the
form of a physical globe. This project involves direct outreach to
several thousand students and scores of teachers and
administrators each academic year, augmenting the ongoing work of
the Southeast Massachusetts Geography Network (
SEMAGNET).
The
project
also
involves
mentoring
current
and
future
geography
educators
at
all
levels
and
advocating
for educational reforms that can re-revitalize geographic
education in Massachusetts. The project has led directly to the
introduction of legislation with the potential to greatly expand
geographic education and geographic literacy throughout the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Worked with an interdisciplinary
team, helped to establish a program and undergraduate minor in
Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Coodrdinator duties
included monitoring course offerings, reviewing the curriculum,
