My favorite beverage! Visit the entertaining web site of my favorite beverage - er, condiment. Maybe you can get a tie just like one of my crazy TABASCO® ties. In my days of making MREs (each of which includes a small bottle), I was often at meetings in which every man present was in such a tie!

My pancakes (see below) are just about the only food that is not improved by the application of a bit of the fiery red sauce.

Buzzards Bay Brewery not only brews right here in Southeast Massachusetts: It uses locally-grown ingredients. Have a Buzzard (if you are of legal drinking age) and help to preserve the beautiful farmlands of Westport. The same family operates Westport Rivers Vineyard and Winery, which hosts educational wine-centered events as well as drop-in tastings and vineyard-side concerts in the summer.

By popular demand, I've posted the recipes for my famous pancakes and killer queso dip.

Pancakes need coffee, and I have some ideas about how to make the perfect cup of coffee. I must warn readers: this one is more of a lifestyle than a recipe!

Less in demand, but no less yummy, are my recipes for chicken and dessert crêpes. Equally scrumptuous is the rose quail recipe that my wife Pamela posted on If you doubt the romantic powers of this dish, just try it!

My wife (Pam the librarian and blogger) found a healthy recipe for chilaquiles in the New York Times, of all places. She puts the recipe in context with a Day of the Dead posting on her blog.

NOTE: This is the "fun food" page, with a focus on fun and flavor. I now have a more serious page as well: the Geography of Food.
