6-Cess Math Review Program

The 6-Cess Math Review Program is designed to help incoming students reinforce their mathematical skills before arriving at BSU. Participants in the 6-Cess program will engage in a combination of online and on-campus math reviews prior to taking or re-taking math placement exams. It is our goal that every student be as prepared as possible to succeed not just in placement testing, but in their college-level mathematics coursework.

The 6-Cess Math Review program has three components: Online Review, On-Campus Workshop, and Placement Testing. The video playlist above will walk you through the process of getting started. You may wish to begin your review right away, and sign up for a workshop at your convenience later.

At a 6-Cess on-campus workshop, you'll complete your review and preparation for placement testing by engaging in a set of active review activities, led by an experienced BSU math tutor. You'll also learn strategies for taking computer-adaptive tests, that will help you best demonstrate your skills on the Accuplacer exams.

Each workshop is two hours long, and a placement test opportunity is given immediately afterward.

Placement Testing
For first takes or re-takes.

A $10.00 fee will apply for re-takes.

Immediately following your workshop, you'll be given an untimed opportunity to complete an Accuplacer math placement exam.

Accuplacer math placement exams are computer-adaptive tests that measure your current level of skill in elementary algebra and/or precalculus-level mathematics. Tests range from 12–20 questions in length, and there is no time limit.

Information on the Accuplacer exams and a set of sample questions distributed by the College Board is available on their website:
