dedicated roasters, faculty and library colleagues, and community members.

2009 GINORMOUS TASTING EVENT & FAIR-TRADE FAIR Tasting event and poster presentations from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Social Justice League Fair-Trade Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both events will be held in the Campus Center Ballroom, Bridgewater State College. Poster presentations and coffee tastings were also part of the ATP Undergraduate Research Symposium on April 24, 2009 Thanks to Academic Affairs, the Office of Undergraduate Research and the Adrian Tinsley Program for support of these events and the research that makes them possible. Most of all, of course, Thank the Farmers! |
Both sections of my
Second-Year Seminar -- GEOG 298: The Secret Life of Coffee -- will be
organized a single event: a coffee tasting in the Campus Center
Ballroom on the afternoon of April 14, 2009. This event was so
successful in 2007 and 2008 that I decided to offer two sections of the
class, partly so that this event could be expanded.More than forty students will organize the tasting, including some who have actually been to coffee farms. Students will prepare coffees from at least eight countries. More importantly, they will prepare posters and handouts and will be prepared to answer your questions about the coffee they are serving.
Students will also be prepared to discuss various aspects of coffee from the field to the cup, such as organic growing, how to prepare coffee, coffee on campus, the fair trade movement, and competing models for treating farmers justly.
If you are attending, please bring your own cup. You will save a few trees and the coffee will taste better.
