Laura R. Ramsey, Ph.D.

Teaching Philosophy

As an instructor, my primary responsibility is to create an effective learning environment for my students.  I firmly believe students must be responsible for their own learning, and I see myself as a guide and helpful ally in their education.  Each of my courses aims to foster crucial skills that every college graduate should have: comprehension, critical thinking, verbal and written communication, and project management.  I also weave themes of social justice throughout each of my courses, so that students may learn with a purpose and apply their knowledge and skills beyond academia.
