Game Design Project 1

Due: Oct 15/16 in class (which ever your class meets on)

Summary: For this project you will do a game concept document (mostly similar to those introduced in chapter 2 of your book, with a couple of additions)
Details:
  • Sign up for a game on the in-classroom sheet (one student per game)
  • Create a Game Concept Document with the following sections for the game you have chosen in Standard American Business English. Nearly all content must be in paragraphs rather than bullet points like this assignment. You might use the bolded parts below as section headings, which you will then fill out with paragraphs.
    • The Hook
    • Game Overview (a one paragraph version)
    • The USP (Unique Selling Points)
    • Game Genre
    • Platform(s)
      • how do those platforms work for this game?
    • Target Audience
      • do a deep dive on the players
      • Demographics of the main target audience
        • age
        • location in the world
        • Socioeconomic target
      • Skills that the players need
      • how the game will appeal to those players
    • Business Model
      • How does this game generate revenue
        • include all approaches
    • Gameplay and what makes it a game
      • what is the "core gameplay loop"
        • how does this relate to the features
        • How does one measure progress?
      • What are the objectives of the game (for games that try to keep you playing for ever by giving you a zillion objectives, pick 5 and explain them.
      • What are the resources for the game?
      • What is the conflict in the game?
        • How is that conflict resolved? How do we know the outcome of the game?
      • What is the consumable content in this game.
        • what is the content burn rate? What is the content lifespan?

Deliverable:

On the due date bring to class a hard copy of your document. (printed) Make it clear which game is being discussed. This document should be in Standard American Business English with good grammar, spelling, formatting and content.
