As the map below makes clear, I have been to Illinois a number of times. I have usually been on my way to some place else, or to the outer suburbs of Chicago in Indiana.

Even when just passing through, however, we try to take different routes when we can, and to stop and learn what we can about new places. One time when our path took us through Springfield, we took the opportunity to visit Abraham Lincoln's home.

So far, I have visited the counties shown in yellow.

I have been to 33 out of 102 counties in Illinois.
