Sadly, this is one of the few states I have not yet visited. The Assocation of American Geographers held its annual meeting there in 1999, but I missed it.

In the spring 2001 semester, I taught a geology course for the first time and coincidentally took a course on earth-based spirituality. In both courses, I learned a little about Pele, an important Hawaiian deity associated with the basaltic flows that continue to form the islands.
