Letter from Birmingham Jail		 During our return from Brazil in the summer of 2000, we visited our friend Bill O. in Birmingham, getting our first chance to actually spend some time in Alabama. We visited the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, which is both moving and informative. It is located across from the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, where four children were killed by racist bombers in 1963.

So far, I have visited the counties shown in yellow.
