"Web Design 101" is a WebQuest designed to teach basic HTML coding to students from middle school to high school. Students will be introduced to document and formatting tags as well as design standards. With the popularity of WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editors such as Microsoft FrontPage, it is easier for someone with no coding experience to put together a great-looking webpage. We believe that before using one of these WYSIWYG editors it helps to know some of the actual code that makes up the backbone of the Internet. You wouldn't let someone use a calculator before they have learned how to add and subtract, so learning how to do basic code before using a program like FrontPage is important.
