The working title of my book is
Seduction of the English Garden: The Story of American Gardening according to
the Nineteenth Century American Seed and Nursery Catalogs.
The idea behind the book is
that the seed and nursery catalogs included articles and images about English
garden design at the same time they were marketing seeds and plants. The
American middle class accepted that design, throughout the century, but
especially after 1870, the start of the Victorian era.
Still waiting for the publisher to issue a
contract. Stay tuned.
