Investigate the major figures, ideas, and social, cultural, and political events that led to the creation of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.  Why and how were these amazing, profound and paradoxical documents created? Who were the leading figures in their articulation?  Why did some ideas catch on and others fail?   How do we assess its strengths and weaknesses?
