DESCRIPTION

This truck has been nothing short of excellent to me. I drove it as a daily driver for only 5 months, and even then it was only 15 miles round trip to work. After that I purchased a commuter car because I was traveling a lot further due to a relocation for my job. Since September of 2004 this vehicle has been driven VERY lightly, around 2000 (two thousand, NOT twenty thousand) miles a year.

I purchased this truck back in 2004 from a dealership near me, and purchased a Car Fax report to accompany my purchase. I still have this 2004 report, and now purchased a new report so you can see the full history of the vehicle since I bought it. Check the link below for the report as of 1/15/2007. The 2004 report is available via PDF, send me your email address and I can give you a copy.

I have replaced many parts on this truck mostly because they were in the area of a repair or I wanted them changed so they would not become a problem later. The lower intake manifold gasket started to leak coolant, so I had that changed as well as the water pump, just because we were in that area of the engine. The water pump was fine but it wasn't much money or time to change so I did it. Oil changes have been done more often than 2000 miles because of how often this truck sits without use. I still manage to drive it around at least once a month to keep things going and to keep tabs on the operational aspects of it. Everything works on the truck, there are no problems that I am aware of (other than stated below) and the overall condition of the truck is GREAT. Paint is near flawless and the interior is very clean with no rips, tears or stains.

BEFORE YOU READ ON - THE TRUCK WILL BE PROFESSIONALLY DETAILED IN AND OUT BEFORE YOU TAKE DELIVERY- DO NOT MIND ANY DIRT OR WATER STAINS, ETC THAT YOU MAY SEE IN THE PICTURES. It is winter time in New England, water freezes at 32°F and it is a lot colder than that outside. I could not get the truck perfectly clean using the hose in the driveway.

There are no noticeable dings, dents, or scratches. There are two small dings in the passenger door, but you have to really look to try and find them. Paint is nice and glossy all around. I have a garage at home as you can see. I do not know if the truck was garaged by the first owner. I have driven it quite a bit since the winter services were performed, and it now has 68,575 miles. I wanted to make sure everything was in good working order. I will drive it to the detail shop and to the gas station to top off the tank when it is sold. Otherwise, the only other additional mileage may be from a test drive. I keep the truck on a battery trickle charger now because the new battery didn't last long sitting in the cold.

SERVICE HISTORY

As you can see, most of the common 4x4 vehicle problems and maintenance items have been addressed and repaired, again the item may have not been in major need of replacement, I know one ball joint had a very small amount of play in it and still had life left, but I decided to replace them both anyway.

THE BAD - not really bad, I am just picky.

Let's get this out of the way - two and a half things wrong with this truck. Two of the wheels are showing some corrosion. Just on the surface, nothing but cosmetics. However, you can get a decent wheel for this at a junkyard or on eBay for relatively short money. Or, upgrade. Keep in mind this bolt pattern is the same for pretty much all GM 1/2 ton trucks from the dawn of time up to 2006. Secondly, It appears that two of the tires were over inflated at some point, as they have worn incorrectly and the middle of the tread is worn down more than the outside of the tread. Not a big deal as they are still legal and have plenty of tread left on them. They are Light Truck Tires, not Passenger Tires, so they should have about 50psi in them at all times (65psi max as stated the sidewall) Then there is one small thing - I notice a slight squeak from the front brakes as you first apply them when the truck is cold. Nothing too noticeable unless you turn off the stereo and stick your head out the window. The brakes are good with plenty of life left in them - just a slight 1/2 second squeak when they are cold and you make that first stop.

Other than that, the truck runs smooth, shifts as it should, stops straight and true (even in snow with the foot to the floor and the ABS activating) and also drives straight and true on the highway with minimal shakes or vibrations.

I really don't want to sell the truck, but I am going back to school and need to get some money together and cut back on my expenses, so it is time to part with it.

AUDIO/VIDEO, SECURITY, EXTERIOR ACCESSORIES

A Word about the equipment in the truck - The AVIC-N1 is an extremely versatile head unit that can handle CD/DVD/MP3/WMA discs, as well as the navigation discs. You can listen to the radio or optional satellite radio, or a CD in the optional CD-changer, while also playing a movie for the occupants in the rear seat!!! They can listen to the movie via wireless IR headphones (included) and you can listen to your choice of the above items!

The AVIC-N1 also has GPS Navigation, so you always know where you are going. It stores your route, address book, and destination history in the built-in 64MB of memory. You can also plan a trip with up to 6 waypoints. Once your route is loaded into the unit, you can eject the navigation DVD and go back to playing a movie or listening to a cd. The unit also has Vehicle Dynamics, which allows you to monitor 3 of 7 items at a time. you can view your speed, voltage, acceleration, angular velocity, compass, time, and battery voltage. The Navigation mode allows you to see your route and the map in several different ways, One of which is Driver View, Showing you a 3-D map and the overhead 2-D map at the same time. Map view is also available, allowing you to see the route and where you are in 2-D, map style layout. Map scale (Zoom Level) Is adjustable from .02 miles to 100 miles. Another really nice thing about this unit is the BACKUP CAMERA. It allows you to see what is behind you and at each side of the truck, so you do not back into objects or people. Also, if you are towing something it allows you to keep tabs on your trailer. The navigation menu is very nicely laid out and graphical- certainly looks good and works just as well. Search by Point of Interest category, Vicinity, Address, Business Name, and City. You can also view the TV broadcasts on either the front AND rear screens, just the rear, or just the front. There is also an A/V input for XBOX, Playstation 2, Gamecube, XBOX 360, Playstation 3, Wii, digital camcorders, digital cameras, or anything else with standard composite A/V (yellow, red, white) plug-in hookups.

CUSTOM PAINT & EXTERIOR ACCESSORIES

I also had some custom paint work done to the truck - The mirrors are painted blue to match the body color of the truck, as well as the grille. I think it makes the truck look a lot smoother and the colors uninterrupted. I also added the DENALI/ESCALADE door handles for this style, and they too are painted blue to match the truck. The window tint was custom as well, the front windows have a Chevy Bowtie with a trailing flame cut out of silver tint (so you can still see through the window) and the rear window was tinted with a silver tint bowtie as well, although due to the privacy glass you can really only see it when light hits it, looks great at night. I also updated the emblems on the rear tailgate to 2000-up style. I had the Z71 side decals added to dress up the looks of the truck - plans were to install the skid plates and rear limited slip differential but I'm just not going to get around to it. The HALO Headlight lenses look great at dusk with the parking lights on. The clear turn signal lenses add to the visibility of the bulbs, making them much brighter than the stock lenses. The crystal side lenses have an amber LED bulb in each side. The rear taillight lenses are awesome with an insert of simulated carbon fiber.

Any imperfections you see in the paint are either dirt or water marks, maybe a light clear coat scratch here and there (can be buffed out for sure) the paint is in great shape and glossy.

Custom Painted Mirrors- Normally an ugly and out-of-place flat black color.

Denali/Escalade Door Handles - VERY EXPENSIVE. Normally a textured black handle.

The grille was sanded down and painted blue to match the color lines of the two-tone paint.

Halo Headlights (LED Halo around High Beam) Clear turn signal lens and crystal side lenses.

Z71 Decals, Rear Lenses. Don't mind the water stains, it is tough to get anything clean when the temperature is 20°F outside.

Rear Bowtie Decal, Bowtie Silver Tint, and the Rearview Backup Camera. I can remove the"3" and the white bowtie decal if necessary.

Silver Bowtie with Flames Window Tint. Again, don't mind the water stain down the door.

GM Accessories Mud flaps - Sorry I didn't get a more detailed shot of them.
