LC
shelf number commonly is called "call number" in the library
profession. It is a number assigned to a book for shelving and inventory
control purposes. LC stands for the Library of Congress. Maxwell Library's
call numbers are based on the Library of Congress' classification
scheme, which is a subject based alphanumeric number system. This
system has been widely used by the academic libraries across this
country. This means that you can use the same subject base numbers
listed below to locate the desired books in Maxwell Library or any
other libraries that also use this classification schem. The following
base numbers will allow you to browse the book shelves of the Mathematics
collection located on the east side of the third floor of Maxwell
Library. |
