Stasis
There are moments when the disturbing drift
of time suspends its never-ending pass
as though the dusty desert sands that shift
had fused into a solid crystal mass.
All fads and worldly cares are pushed aside
as images profound meet mortal eyes,
and when these revelations are applied,
works of eternal brilliance are the prize,
displays that with the starry skies compete,
seen clearly through the swirling dust of change.
But these are mere mirages of the heat
that soon a calmer mind will rearrange,
and in the end the thoughtful understand
there only is the shifting of the sand.
