             Automobile Remote Control

Random bleeps

from an automobile remote control

stab the early morning hush.

The engine starts in an empty vehicle,

and a gray plume of exhaust

dissipates in the darkness.

Eventually a person appears

who speeds away in the nervous machine,

leaving my psyche slowly bleeding

by the side of the road.
