ED 530 Research Methods can
be taken prior to admittance to the program.
This
introductory course requires 40 hours of fieldwork in a classroom at the
appropriate grade-level(s). When you select a site in which to do your 40
hours, some of your prepracticum fieldwork must be conducted in a diverse
(multicultural) environment. Almost all school systems are requiring a
criminal background check (CORI). This
may take 3 to 4 weeks, so get in touch with a school system early, if possible
before the course begins!
These
courses (EA or EE 510, ED 530) may be taken prior to passing the first two MTEL
tests. However, it is important to note that these are the only courses that
can be taken prior to passing the two exams.
You must pass Communication and Literacy and the Content MTEL before
being allowed to register for any of the professional education courses ,
and to get accepted into the Masters for Initial License.
Acceptance to Professional
Education: After being admitted into the Masters for
Initial License, Elementary or Early Childhood,
as long as you are enrolled in EA
or EE 510, you can hand in your documentation to be admitted into
Professional Education. Once you have completed the 40 hour prepracticum, even
though the course may not be over, you may submit your documentation of the 40
hours to Professional Education (in Dean’s Office) to be admitted.
