18. Johnathan WEAVER (John-5, Stephen-4, John-3, John-2, John-1) was born about 1769 in Edgecombe, North Carolina. "Captain Jonathan Wever was a man of great wealth who lived three or four miles north of where the town of Johnston now is." – (From the records of Leonard Todd, 920 Park Ave., NY, NY.) He died on 24 May 1841 in Edgefield Co, South Carolina. History of Edgefield County From the Earliest Settlements to 1897. 1897

Mr. Jonathan Weaver.
Dear Sir: Withn is the sales of your cotton, which we hope will please. We also send you agreeable to your order, as by the within bill, which we hope will also please you.
The price of West India Rum was One dollar 20 cents, and it being only 3 proof, and 4th proof Jamaica being only $1.45, we were under the impression that it would suit you best, because in addition to the rum being better than W.I. it is cheaper, because it will bear much more water.
The balance of two hundred and forty-two 91-100 dollars remains in our hands subject to your order when called for, as we had no instructions what to do with it.
Cotton is at present 29, but we are not certain how long. It will be lower, as it is continually declining in price. We are under the impession that it will come down to 25 or 26 cents, but that it will eventually rise again; we think that it may in the spring command 30, but that is uncertain; it is only our opinion. Grocieries of almost every description are high: Sugar, 140. lb; Molasses, 650 @68l; Coffee, 350, 37 ½ ; Coarse woolens are high; Fine woolens and cotton goods much as last season.
We are, Dear sir, with sentiments of respect and esteem, your obedient humble servants.
