THE SKINFLINT OF THE SILVER SCREEN This adaptation of Moliere's The
Miser moves from Harpagon's cavernous mansion in 17th Century France to a
B-Movie Studio in Hollywood's Golden Age. The Metro-Gold-Myzer studio tilts
on the edge of bankruptcy and re-brands itself as The Rainbow Studios, under
the same management of LB Myzer - Hollywood's cheapest skinflint! To cut
costs, LB hires mostly family members to staff his studio, and when not
wrestling money from the penny-pinching hands of their boss, the staff and
stars of this studio are filming epics on shoestring budgets. Throughout the
play, the studio is under renovation by a studio decorator and her slapstick
employees. LB dreams of marrying off his starlet daughter to magnate Mr.
Bianselme, saving his studio from bankruptcy.
