In the early 1990s, Nancy Yeatts discovered endangered bald eagles nesting near her home on Assawomsett Pond in Lakeville, Massachusetts. This virtual field trip allows you to learn about what has attracted the eagles to Assawompsett, what challenges they face there, and what is being done to protect them -- without disturbing the eagles! |
|
WARNING: The bald eagle habitat described in this field trip is protected by the Federal Government. In order to protect these animals, no specific locational information is provided here. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and other Federal authorities investigate disturbance of designated bald eagle nests. Please do not attempt to replicate this virtual field trip in the real world without first obtaining proper authorization from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. |
