•“Position” refers to the highest placement of any
of my pages found using the search indicated. Typically, ten results are shown
per screen.
Any placement below 20 or 30 is not likely to be seen.
•Notice
that slight differences in wording can make a big difference
•Google finds all pages that include all of the
words in a search term. For common words, this can be quite a large number
of pages. Each additional word in the search reduces the number of
found pages,
perhaps dramatically.
•A page should include misspellings and any word
people are likely to use when searching for the topic. If the searcher uses
“java” and I’ve only used “coffee” throughout my page, that searcher
will not find me through Google.
•Some searches for which results are very good are
searches that nobody would ever actually do! “Walmart bad business” is a
good example.
