Upham Hall - lovely arch Soon after we were married, Pam and I moved to Oxford, Ohio, where we both earned master's degrees at Miami University. These were our real Sonny-and-Cher days, when we had no money, drove a '65 bug, and studied all the time.

It was while working in Cincinnati that a co-worker introduced me to the concept of county maps. As you can see, we got to as many counties as we could while we were in Ohio.

In Oxford, we had two homes. The first was a garden apartment adjacent to campus. In this 1994 aerial photograph, it is the long, grey building in the north-center part of the image. During our last eight months, we had the privilege of living in my advisor's home on fifteen acres a few miles to the west of town. The house and outbuildings are near the center of this 1998 aerial photograph. To the west is Indian Creek, and just to the west of that is Indiana -- and another time zone, six months of the year. It was a great place to live with two dogs and a cat for a few seasons.
