County Map ProjectOK - Oklahoma
|
Oklahoma contains an important part of the Mother Road - old Route 66 - which I had the pleasure of following on a trip from Phoenix, AZ to Oxford, OH. Pam and I also passed through Texas County, OK on our way from Kansas City to Tucson once. |

In 1996, I enjoyed several days in Norman for the 1996 meeting of SWAAG - the Southwest Association of American Geographers. We took a field trip that included the site of the Murrah Building, which I experienced as very moving, and similar to the Vietnam Memorial in its emotional impact. On April 19, 2000, the fifth anniversary of the bombing, the Oklahoma City National Memorial was dedicated. It is an exceptional design, and I look forward to returning to experience it.
So far, I have visited the counties shown in yellow.
I have been to 14 out of 77 counties in Oklahoma.
