Dr. Miller (I never got used to calling him Glenn) was a wonderful teacher and a wonderful person.  I think I only had him for 2 classes altogether, but he's always been such a supporter--like a proud parent.  The weekend camping trip to Lancaster County in April 1989 was a highlight of my time at BSC (as well as the ES & G trips to Mexico and to Hawaii with Dr. Enright).  It was a little chilly at night, but there was so much laughing that it was worth it.  And we saw and did so much in a short time in that one area.  It was beautiful and I'm grateful that I got to go.  The best part I think was meeting and talking with an Amish farmer that I believe Dr. Miller knew when he was growing up.  He wanted us to see what life was like for the people there--connecting them with the landscape.  At the same time, we got a peek at Dr. Miller's life before he was a professor.  I've continued to have some contact with Dr. Miller through work.  He has always been warm, welcoming, passionate about his chosen field, professional and courageous.
