A tribute to Dr. Glenn Miller

As I go about my career in G.I.S., I often stop to think of certain teachers who were extremely instrumental for me during my time as a student of earth sciences at Bridgewater.  Dr. Miller was among my favorites because of his sense of humor, his messy office, and above all his absolute love of geography.  I remember going into his office once and saying, "Dr. Miller, maybe I could do an internship straightening out your office and catalog your miles of publications and books."  I knew he liked his office just the way it was (I often had a bet that he probably was a very neat person at home).  He replied "I'll think about it, but I really can find things in here" as he reached under a stack about 3 feet high and pulled out the exact paper I needed. I think about him often and know that  a very bright light has gone from the world.  I do believe that his love of geography now has him circling the globe in search of new territory.
