This presentation will not operate properly without the CHIME browser plug-in installed.

If CHIME is installed properly on your computer, the box below should contain a spacefilled model of methane.

Methane:

Click and drag with the left mouse button to rotate this molecular model.

If you see only a blank space, you will need to obtain and install a copy of CHIME on your computer. Chime may be obtained (along with instructions for its installation) directly from MDL Information Systems by clicking here:

Chime Hints:

This model is "live" in the sense that the user (you!) can manipulate the structure. (Please note… the following description applies to Windows PC's. Please see the MDLI web site for Mac directions.)

Clicking with the left mouse button and dragging allows the molecule to be rotated around the X and Y axes.
Click with the right mouse button brings up a menu with a number of options.

The mouse may also be used to perform the following manipulations:

Shift-left button and dragging – change size of molecule
Control-right button and dragging – translate (move) molecule in window
Shift-right button and dragging – rotate around Z axis
