THE 2ND NATIONAL RESEARCH CONFERENCE ON CHILD AND FAMILY PROGRAMS AND POLICY

THINGS TO KNOW IN ADVANCE TO HELP YOU PACK AND PLAN

Where Should I Go When I First Arrive on Campus?

If you are arriving on Wednesday, July 15, you should check in at the Dunn Conference Rooms in Crimson Hall.

If you are arriving on Thursday or Friday mornings, July 16 or 17, you should check in at the John Joseph Moakley Center.

To familiarize yourself with the campus, please view the campus map. Please note that all of our conference activities will take place in the (1) John Joseph Moakley Center, (2) Dunn Conference Rooms in Crimson Hall, and (3) East Campus Commons.

How Should I Dress?

All conferences that are held in the summer seem to be either too hot or too cold. Ours is no exception. We recommend that you dress in layers. In some rooms last year we had individuals wearing wool shawls - in July. In others, when the late-day sun hit, we were increasing the AC.

On a related note, last year the temperature in the residence hall was very cold. Please bring night clothes that are well-suited for chilly temperatures.

Can I Use the Internet While on Campus?

Bridgewater State College allows guests to log on to their wireless Internet service as a guest. To learn more about this, please visit this link.

Can I Make Photocopies on Campus?

We are unable to accommodate any requests to make photocopies while on campus.

Where Can I Exercise While on Campus?

Bridgewater has an outstanding fitness center and clean, spacious locker rooms. Conference attendees can use the facility for $5 a day. You can click here to view the facilities. The Bridgewater State campus and the town of Bridgewater are also wonderful and safe places to walk and run/jog during daylight hours.

What if I am Staying on Campus?

Individuals who select to stay on campus will be provided with sheets, 1 blanket, and 1 towel. Individuals will need to bring all other conveniences and supplies with them. It is highly recommended that at a minimum, individuals bring their own toiletries, an extra towel (or 2), and an extra blanket; (the rooms can be very cold, even in summer).

Where Do I Eat in Bridgewater?

The town of Bridgewater has a few restaurant options within walking distance from the College. There are more within driving distance. A list of restaurants will be placed in all conference folders. We have tried to minimize the need for eating out. On the evening of July 15 we are providing a "welcome dinner" to all conference attendees. On July 16 we are providing conference attendees with breakfast and lunch. In the evening we have arranged for a bus to take conference attendees (and guests as desired) to East Bay Grille in Plymouth, MA. (There is a $45 fee for this dinner outing.) On July 17 we are providing conference attendees with breakfast and lunch.
