Depending upon one's interests, France is probably one of the best countries in the world to visit.  One can find, in a relatively small area (at least as compared to the U.S), diverse geography (fertile farmlands, rugged and dry mountainous areas, Alpine regions, green and lush coastal areas to the north, palm trees and beaches to the south, mountains and vineyards near the Rhine....), varied architecture, walled cities, cathedrals from all periods, Roman ruins, great food, wine, bread, and cheese.   In short, France has something for just about everyone.
