Intrapersonal Communication I am aware that my fingers are tired of typing. My eyes are taking in the beautiful scenery of the Thousand Islands in Canada (I am typing this as we drive from Boston to Toronto - taking full use of mediated communication!). My back hurts from many, many hours in the car. My tastebuds are quite happy, having recently had a chocolate peanut butter ice cream cone from Stewart's. My ears are enjoying a Sarah McLachlan song from her Mirrorball cd. In addition to the physical sensations which are a part of intrapersonal communication, I have thoughts which are also a part of that communication within myself. I marvel at the modern technology that enables me to plug my laptop into the power adapter port in the car. I am excited about the prospects of the computer mediated supplemental materials that will be available to you this semester. And I am worried that we'll never be ready for the fall semester! Intrapersonal communication stays within yourself, but it is the basis of all others. Where I spend time forming a complete thought, or spit something out without fully forming the thought, I engage in intrapersonal before I turn to my husband for interpersonal communication. I am also engaged in intrapersonal communication when I write in my journal. Intrapersonal communication stays within myself.
