During your semester in Human Communication Skills, you will attain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a variety of areas of Communication Studies. The links in this section will provide you with further information about each of those areas. There are four foundations of communication which have been studied for decades:

• group communication,
• interpersonal communication,
• intrapersonal communication, and
• public communication.

As more and more human communication becomes mediated by technology of some sort - from photographs (the original form of electronic communication) or email, the following foundation has been recently added:

• mass communication.
