Academic Paper Assignment (for 3/29/99)

Assignment:

A research paper on a topic of current interest in an art form. The paper is expected to take a perspective on its topic, based on evidence found through the research. The paper is to be written in formal style, and a minimum of ten pages in length. There must be a minimum of four non-textook references, including at least two non-internet references. The following structure is suggested:

  1. Introduction to the issue.
  2. Statement of the problem.
  3. Statement of purpose of the paper.
    • -Statement of position and outline of argument (hypothesis).
  4. Definitions and qualifications.
  5. Review of available sources.
  6. First argument
    • -Evidence and discussion
  7. Second argument
    • -Evidence and discussion
    ---
    ---
  8. Concluding statement of position
    • -Address opposing views not addressed above.
  9. Summary
