Final Exam: Aesthetics, Curriculum Framework, District Change, Instrumental Values (for 5/10/99)
You will have at least 75 minutes to write on the following questions on the paper provided. Spelling and grammar are important. Please respond in paragraph form, rather than listing. You may answer in any order, provided the answers are labeled clearly for the question. Each essay is worth 20 points.
1. Reflect upon the class periods devoted to criticism and aesthetics. If you create a new work, discuss how it might come to be considered a work of art.
2. Discuss the Guiding Principles of the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework, and how they relate to the National Standards.
3. Discuss the content of the three major strands in the Curriculum Framework, selecting either dance or theatre for the Arts Disciplines strand.
4. Discuss the most important factors in developing school districts that are supportive of the arts.
5. Discuss the ways in which learning in and through the arts augments and supports understanding for the child in learning about things other than art.
