Sources for Research in Contemporary American Theatre

Use one of the following electronic databases to locate periodical (i.e., journal or magazine) articles on various aspects of contemporary American theatre.

Academic Search Elite Campus-wide All academic subjects; selected full-text articles.
Art Full-Text Campus-wide Subjects such as stagecraft, costume, interior design, theatre as film, dance, choreography, including performance reviews. Selected full-text articles.
Expanded Academic ASAP Campus-wide All academic subjects; selected full-text articles
International Index to the Performing Arts Full-Text (IIPA) Campus-wide All aspects of the performing arts: dance, theatre, stagecraft, comedy... Selected full text articles.
Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe Campus-wide Choose "News" then "Arts and Sports" to access the text of theatre reviews.
    When searching Lexis-Nexis for reviews of theatrical performances, use the following search strategy:
    • Keyword should be: [name of play]
    • Source should be "Book, movie, music, and play reviews"
    • Check the Date to make sure it goes as far back as you wish; default is "previous 6 months"
MLA International Bibliography Campus-wide Drama as a whole; analysis of specific plays; playwriting
