Ashley Marie Barber, '10 is a Corporate Communication major from Marshfield, Ma.

The focus of her project is on actress Marilyn Monroe



Norma Jean Mortenson was on born June 1, 1926 and was later baptised Norma Jean Baker. She spent her childhood bouncing around foster homes and grew up to become one of the most loved and influential women in history: Marilyn Monroe.

On August 5, 1962 at the age of 36, Marilyn Monroe was found dead as a result of a drug overdose in her Brentwood, Los Angeles home in California. Ruled a probable suicide, to this day people still speculate whether it really was or not. Regardless of what the true cause was, she has left behind a strong legacy and her story continues to capture the hearts of people of all ages world-wide.
Darryl Zanuck, President of 20th Century Fox once said "Nobody discovered her, she earned her own way to stardom." Norma Jean Baker transformed herself from and orphaned child married at the age of 16 to what defines Hollywood Star. The Internet Movie Database's, Publicity Listings says that in her short lifetime Marilyn Monroe has appeared on 139 Magazine Cover Photos and in 18 biographical movies, 22 portrayals, 49 Print Biographies, 54 Articles, and 45 Pictorials.
