- “Reading Frank Grace’s Record.” An
article manuscript studying early twentieth-century lacrosse and its
meanings in Canada through a rare diary kept by a prominent player during
the twilight of the amateur ideal.
- The Hockey Boys: A
Study in the History of Juvenile Fiction.
A book-length study of juvenile fiction in the United States, 1890-1940,
and the cultural construction of “Canada” in American minds through hockey
- The Coolest Game:
A History of Ice Hockey. A book-length
thematic global history of the sport, from its Victorian beginnings to the
present day (co-authored with Dr. Stephen Hardy, University of New
- “Canadian Students and Transnational
Experiences of Education at Bridgewater Normal School, 1858-1919.” A
prosopography of Canadians who came to train as teachers in New England
normal schools, especially BNS.
- Hockey: A Canadian
History in Documents. Edited and
annotated documentary history of Canada’s national winter game, including
a comprehensive introduction (under contract with The Champlain Society).
